    • Software Engineer (Product)

You are most satisfied when you’re building a product people will love using. No layer of the application stack will obstruct your path. You have the coding acumen and computer science background needed to write software that is not merely correct and efficient, but self-documenting and maintainable. You have a knack for visual and user experience design, and you redesign and polish until your product is beautiful, intuitive, and a joy to use.

Your teammates are glad that you’re brilliant, of course, but they especially appreciate the humility and even-handedness you demonstrate during design, product, and engineering discussions.

      • Work with designers, product managers, and other engineers to imagine, build, and launch successful product features
      • As needed, make changes across the entire application stack
      • Move quickly without moving irresponsibly; be capable of working at different points in the speed/quality/cost continuum as circumstances demand
      • Model product questions as live experiments or user studies, and act quickly on gathered data
      • As an early employee, help to refine best practices and lead by example

      Must-Have Skills and Experience

      • Solid fundamentals in computer science (e.g., a BS or masters degree) with strong competencies in software design

    • Software Engineer (Systems)

You make it a point to know how everything fits together. More importantly, you have half a dozen ideas about how to make it fit together better. You don’t get lost in the weeds, and your colleagues don’t know what they’d do without you. You need to be part of a company with a strong engineering culture, and you know how, when, and why to focus on software quality, software cost, or development time. You are adamant about meaningful code reviews, unit testing, a healthy release process, and consistent style guidelines.

You know how to evaluate open-source components, as well as how to estimate the value of subscription services. You know roughly how much it would cost to build those components and services in-house and are trusted by those around you to choose systems and technologies for the rest of the company.

Your teammates are glad that you’re brilliant, of course, but they especially appreciate the humility and even-handedness you demonstrate during design, product, and engineering discussions.
